Bio (ENG)

This collective was founded by Beglian bassplayer Kobe Boon. Starting from Boon's compositions, Astrid Creve, Roos Denayer & Marta del Grandi (voice), Benjamin Hermans & Ambroos De Schepper (reeds), Artan Buleshkaj (guitar) and Simon Raman (drums) create a very personal atmosfeer, timbre & energy, a mòs sound. The colour of the female voice, the blend with the reeds & atypical use of this sound is one of the key elements of their sound.

Their debute Limbs was released in winter It brings a mix of Eastern European choir, groovy krautpop & saxophone madness.

The second album Behind the Marble (W.E.R.F. records, Februari ) is an ode to imagination and the power of phantasy, but also: a feast of grasped opportunities. mòs ensemble plays music that dares to be voluptuous, takes risks, aims for finales that will explode on stages, and subsequently uncover sidetracks. Genres don’t matter anymore. This music is colourful and expressive, spurred on by a beating heart, at the same time triggered from a central organism that combines emotions, colors, textures and lust poetry like a clenched fist.

Pets & Therapy is the sound of a band still honing its sound, refusing to settle for a formula. Not because they’re trying to adapt to the whims of the day

Een arenlezer loopt achter de maaier aan en raapt de aren die achterblijven alsnog op. Bij het maken van een werk blijven er ook veel ideeën liggen.

Een tunnel vanuit de nati­onale bank naar
de bloemenwinkel aan de overkant,
een boot op het dak van een gebouw,
een collectie rattenvallen die het niet doen,
een verzameling lekke voetballen,
een voorstelling die nooit begint,
waarin je honderd keer sterft,
een vosje van papier.

Kan ik die ideeën naast elkaar leggen zodat er alsnog iets mee gebeurt?
Iets dat ik niet zelf had kunnen bedenken?

Fotografe Lara Gasparotto: ‘Mijn werk is een stijlvol braaksel van mijn leven’

Ik ontmoet Lara Gasparotto op een woonboot in Angleur, aan de rafelranden van Luik. De forellen in het Canal de l’Ourthe dartelen geregeld naar de oppervlakte om wat nazomerlucht in te slaan en – althans in mijn verbeelding – hun middelvin op te steken naar de vissers wat verderop.

Het dek van de woonboot is versierd met kleurrijke lampen, hier en daar staan bierbakken vol lege flessen. Het doet vermoeden dat er op le bateau de Gasparotto regelmatig geïmproviseerde feestjes plaatsvinden. De piraten op de naburige woonboten bellen vast niet meteen de politie als er na tien uur nog auditieve tekens van levensvreugde zijn.

• had al veertien solo­tentoon­stel­lingen, in België, Nederland en Duitsland

• publiceerde tot nog toe vijf boeken: Sleepwalk (), Rivages (),

Ask the Dusk (), Come Dawn to Us () en Solstices ()

• woont in Angleur, een deelgemeente van Luik 

Toch is Lara Gasparotto van plan om haar liederlijke huurboot binnen afzienbare tijd weer te verlaten. Ze zoekt samen met haar vriend

People are central to the work of Studio Anne Ligtenberg. The designers make difficult subjects open for discussion and thereby stimulate mutual understanding and resilience. The design studio distinguishes itself through an empathic approach and works primarily in the social domain to improve people's well being.

 

"I feel I have to make a contribution to society. This determines which assignments I accept, but also what I do in my free work. A lot of my projects are related to my personal situation or surroundings. If not, I delve deeper into the subject until it is familiar territory. I see the problems and people's experiences up close and therefore I tend to look for solutions as a designer."

"As a designer, you're always dependent on the people you work with. People and their situations - which they choose to share with me - are my sources. First I want to understand the circumstances and this understanding always comes first. Only then does the actual designing start."
